Robbins (Rabinowitz), Jerome
(b. 1918)
   US choreographer. Starting as a dancer with the ballet theatre, Robbins became a leading Broadway choreographer and director of musicals. He was best known for On the Town (1944), West Side Story (1957) and the direction of Fiddler on the Roof (1964). He founded the American Theatre Laboratory, and helped to advance the Israel dance company, Inbal.
