Haim, Victor
(b. 1935)
   French dramatist. Haim was born in Asnières and was educated at the Nantes Conservatoire. A prolific writer, many of his dramas deal with Jewish themes. Abraham et Samuel (‘Abraham and Samuel’, 1973), for example, explores Jewish identity; La Servante (‘The Maid-Servant’, 1976) centres on a doctor who has used prisoners for scientific experimentation; La Visite (‘The Visit’, 1975) deals with the betrayal of a Jewish husband by a gentile wife and Isaac et la Sage-Femme (‘Isaac and the Midwife’, 1976) is set in Egypt in the time of Moses. Over the years Haim has won many French literary awards.
