Blaustein, Jacob
(1892–1970)
   US industrialist. Jacob Blaustein was the son of Louis, the founder of the American Oil Company. He worked closely with his father in a business that expanded into one of the greatest petroleum concerns in the country. It included oil refineries, steamship terminals, insurance and banking.
   Jacob was president of the American Jewish Committee and a leading member of the Conference on Jewish Claims Against Germany. He served on the boards of governors of the Hebrew University and the Weizmann Institute of Science. He was an active supporter of Negro civil rights, and in 1956 was a member of the US delegation to the United Nations General Assembly, dealing with social and economic affairs.
